One of the members of the pray for children team was remembering when she had to sit her leaving certificate exams. It was a time of great anxiety and wondering if she had studied enough or if she would remember what she had learned or if she knew enough to pass her exams. Her mother who was a woman of prayer quietly told her before she took her exams she should pray to what she referred to as "the dopey saint." One may ask as she die at the time "who is he?" St. Joseph of Cupertino was her mother's reply. The lady who was a teenager then took her mother's advice and prayed to St. Joseph. Every question that came up on the paper was a question she had studied and every exam was passed well. The power of prayer proved to be successful on this occasion and since then, St. Joseph of Cupertino was always recommended to others when exams were been taken.
Prayer to St. Joseph of Cupertino
for Success in Examinations.
O humble St. Joseph of Cupertino,
Singularly favored by God in overcoming
The difficulties of study and the worries of
Examinations, implore the Holy Spirit to
Enlighten my mind and strengthen my
Memory in search of His truth and wisdom.
Help me especially in the decisive moments of
this examination, protecting me from
that forgetfulness and disturbing anxiety
which often affect me.
May I succeed in offering God my finest work and
may I grow in knowledge, understanding,
humility and charity.
humility and charity.
May everything that I attempt to learn in life be
offered in faithful service to God, from whom flows
That wisdom which leads to eternal life. Amen.
St. Joseph of Cupertino pray for me,
Our Lady of Good Studies pray for me,
Holy Spirit enlighten me!
Prayer to Our Lady of Studies
(By St. Thomas Aquinas)
O Mary, seat of Wisdom, so many persons of common intellect
have made through your intercession admirable progress in their studies. I hereby choose you as patron and guardian of my studies.
I humbly ask you to obtain for me the grace of the Holy Spirit,
so that from now on I could understand more quickly,
retain more readily, and express myself more fluently.
May the example of my life serve to honour you and your Son, Jesus.
Amen.
