Lent and The Source of Love

"My dear friends, let us love each other, since love is from God and everyone who loves is a child of God and knows God.  Whoever fails to love does not know God, because God is love.  This is the revelation of God's love for us, that God sent his only Son into the world that we might have life through him. "Love consists in this: It is not we who loved God, but God loved us and sent his Son to expiate our sins." Cf. (1 John:4:7-10)

Lent is a time when we give up something, take up something and try to improve on a bad behaviour or habit. We  also pray, fast and give alms. This lent why not consider taking up a spiritual exercise that will benefit another person greatly and will also be an act of love.  Are you interested?

Lenten Exercise ~ Spiritually adopt a child or young person.

Each week for the six weeks of lent why not offer one hour of prayer for a child/young person.  It can be a child/young person you know or perhaps you might offer your hour of prayer to Our Blessed Lady and ask her to pick a child or young person who needs your prayers most.

As is written in Sacred Scripture, "My dear friends, let us love each other."
Praying for others is love in action.

 Prayer as communion

In the New Covenant, prayer is the living relationship of the children of God with their father who is good beyond measure, with his Son Jesus Christ and with the Holy Spirit.  The grace of the Kingdom is "the union of the entire holy and royal Trinity... With the whole human spirit".  Thus, the life of prayer is the habit of being in the presence of the thrice-holy God and in communion with him.  This communion of life is always possible because, through Baptism, we have already been united with Christ.  Prayer is Christian insofar as it is communion with Christ and extends throughout the Church, which is his Body.  Its dimensions are those of Christ's love. Cf. (CCC2565).

If you can, please pray one hour a week for a child this lent
and may God bless you.
