Imagine Jesus saying these words to you "You are not far from the Kingdom of God". Mk. 12:34
Would you be anxious or worry about anything after hearing these words?
In today's Gospel Mark 12:28-34, one of the scribes asks Jesus a question "which is the first of all the commandments? Jesus replies by telling him that "the Lord our God is the one Lord, and you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind and with all your stength.  The second is this: you must love your neighbour as yourself.  There is no commandment greater than these."
So here we have words from the mouth of Jesus Himself.  We are called to love God above all else and to love our neighbour as ourselves.  If we love God and neighbour then we will hear God saying to us "You are not far from the Kingdom of God."
When we pray for children we are loving God and loving our neighbour.  To take time out of our busy lives to pray for someone we do not know and have not met is an act of love.  We will goodness upon our neighbour and beg god's help for them. In loving our neighbour we are loving God.  It is not possible to love God when we neglect our neighbour.
Who is my neighbour?  My neighbour is every human soul that God has created.  If we are truly following Christ then we should be able to look into the eyes of every human being and see the person of Christ looking back at us even if that person has done awful things. It is for sinners that Christ came and we are all sinners. Christ calls us today to love all human beings with no exceptions. We should love the person and mug the problem.
Today lets show God our love in action by praying for our neighbour.
