June 2012

Our June intention is to pray for all those taking exams at this time of year.

At this time of the year we keep in our prayers all children and young adults sitting exams. We pray that the Holy Spirit will guide them, encourage them and fill them with His love and hope.

For those taking exams; do not let your hearts be troubled, trust in God and His holy Mother Mary. Bring them into your daily routine, take a moment from your studies to pray to them and to thank them for your many gifts and talents. Be encouraged by the prayers we will offer for you during this month.

“We can never have too much confidence in the good God who is so powerful and so merciful. We obtain from Him as much as we hope for.” St Therese of Lisieux

Prayer for students by St Thomas Aquinas

Creator of all things,
true source of light and wisdom,
origin of all being,
graciously let a ray of your light penetrate
the darkness of my understanding.

Take from me the double darkness
in which I have been born,
an obscurity of sin and ignorance.

Give me a keen understanding,
a retentive memory, and
the ability to grasp things
correctly and fundamentally.

Grant me the talent
of being exact in my explanations
and the ability to express myself
with thoroughness and charm.

Point out the beginning,
direct the progress,
and help in the completion.

I ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

For parents and famlies of those talking exams here is a lovely prayer which you can pray for your child, grand child, sister or brother during this important time for them.

Give our daughter / son etc. O Lord, I pray Thee firm faith, unwavering hope, perfect charity.

Pour into their heart the Spirit of wisdom and understanding,
the Spirit of counsel and spiritual strength,
the Spirit of knowledge and true godliness
and the Spirit of Thy holy fear.

Light eternal, shine in their heart,
Power eternal, deliver them from evil,
Wisdom eternal, scatter the darkness of their ignorance,
Might eternal, pity them.

Grant that they may ever seek Thy face with all their heart and soul and strength;
and, in thine infinite mercy, bring them at last to Thy holy presence where they shall behold Thy glory and possess Thy promised joys forever. Amen.
