"The harvest is rich but the labourers are few."

We remember also in our prayers those who may be discerning a vocation.

St. John Vianney

Cure ofArs, born at Dardilly, near Lyons, France, on May, 1786; died at Ars, on 4th August, 1859; Patron Saint of Priests/Parish Priests.

St. John Vianney's Prayer to Jesus

I love You, O my God,
and my only desire is to love You until the last breath of my life.
I love You, O my infinitely lovable God,
and I would rather die loving You, than live without loving You.
I love You, Lord, and the only grace I ask is to love You eternally.
My God, if my tongue cannot say in every moment that I love You,
I want my heart to repeat it to You as often as I draw breath.

Prayer for vocations

O Jesus, send labourers into your fields
which are awaiting holy Apostles, saintly Priests,
heroic Missionaries and dedicated Sisters and Brothers.
Enkindle in them the spark of a vocation.
Grant that Christian families may desire to give your Church,
helpers in the work of tomorrow. Amen.

Here is a useful Catholic website that may help young people to decide if they have a vocation. http://romancatholicvocations.blogspot.ie/

We also pray for young people starting out in life.

Choosing a career or path in life is not always an easy decision.
It is important to seek guidance from different people but
the most important person to ask and who will give the perfect guidance
is the Holy Spirit, the Third Person of the Blessed Trinity.

Prayer to the Holy Spirit for Guidance

Come O Holy Spirit and fill me with yourself.
Grant to me wisdom to choose wisely a path in life
Where I may only do God's holy will.
Strengthen me with knowledge.
Teach me to be patient when making choices.
Grant me understanding when needed.
Remind me of the sacrifice that God has made for me
So that I may be as generous to him when making my decision.
Walk with me on my journey through this life
And bring me to my eternal home at the end of my earthly journey.
Amen.
