December prayer intention is to pray for the protection of the unborn

This week we will pray for the protection of the unborn against the
horrific act of abortion.
Defend me, O God, and plead my cause
Against a godless nation.
From deceitful and cunning men
Rescue me, O God. Ps. 42 (43)

Truly you have formed my inmost being; you knit me in my mother's womb.  I give you thanks that I am fearfully, wonderfully made; wonderful are your works. My soul also you knew full well nor was my frame unknown to you when I was made in secret, when I was fashioned in the depths of the earth.  Your eyes have seen my actions; in your book they are written; my days were limited before one of them existed. (Ps. 139:13-16)

Why must human life be respected?

Human life involves the creative action of God and it remains forever in a special relationship with the Creator, who is its sole end.  It is not lawful for anyone directly to destroy an innocent human being. This is gravely contrary to the dignity of the person and the holiness of the Creator. "Do not slay the innocent and the righteous" Cf. (Com. of CCC 466, Exodus 23:7).

Why must society protect every embryo

The inalienable right to life of every human individual from the first moment of conception is a constitutive element of civil society and its legislation.  When the State does not place its power at the service of the rights of all and in particular of the more vulnerable, including unborn children, the very foundations of a State based on law are undermined. Cf. (Com. of CCC 472).

Prayer

Heavenly Father, in your love for us, protect us against the wickedness of the devil, those helpless little ones to whom you have given the gift of life.

Touch with pity the hearts of those women pregnant in our world today who are not thinking of motherhood.

Help them to see that the child they carry is made in your image as well as theirs and made for eternal life.

Dispel their fear and selfishness and give them true womanly hearts to love their babies and give them birth and all the needed care that a mother alone can give.

We ask this through Jesus Christ, Your Son, Our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and
the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.  Amen.

To you all flesh will come
With its burden of sin.
Too heavy for us, our offences,
But you wipe them away. Ps. 64 (65)

The Joy of Confession

Those who make a good confession, with their sins absolved,
Experience a twofold joy.

The burden of their past sins is lifted from them

They can walk again with God as his friend

To those who have been far away from the Sacrament of Reconciliation (confession) and forgiving love, I make this appeal: come back to this source of grace, do not be afraid! Christ himself is waiting for you. He will heal you, and you will be at peace with God!"

(John Paul 11)

Lord Jesus, we pray that through our own troubles, we may learn to feel the sufferings of others;- help us to show them your compassion.

This week let us remember all girls and women who are suffering from the terrible after effects of abortion.  May they come to find peace, love and forgiveness in the risen Lord, Jesus Christ.  Amen.
