September 2012
Join us each week and pray for an hour before the Blessed Sacrament, for children. They need you to bring them to the Lord in prayer.
Our September intention is to pray for all children who are suffering from mental, physical or spiritual problems. We also pray for all children heading back to school or college at this time of year.
He heals the broken hearted, and binds up their wounds. Proverbs 147:3
Only a parent can know their own grief when their child is not well. We as family, friends, neighbours and loving strangers can feel helpless but we can do something. We will offer you support through our prayers, you can count on it. Know that we will pray for you, for your courage and strength. We will pray for your dear child - young and not so young. We will pray to our Lady to ask her to wrap her loving mantle around your family, around your child, and give you the gifts of peace, hope and healing.
"No one can make a better friend than Jesus - because His love is so humble and so tender..." Mother Teresa of Calcutta
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
The followings prayers are said by a Priest when visiting the home of a child who is unwell, let us say these prayers too.
"O God, to whom all things grow, and by whom they are strengthened when grown, stretch forth Your hand upon Your servant who is sick at this tender age: that recovering the vigor of health, he may arrive at the fullness of years, and always remain Your faithful and grateful servant all the days of his life. Through Christ our Lord. Amen."
"O Father of mercies and God of all consolation, You are full of tenderness for the good of Your children, grant the grace of healing not only to the soul but also to the mind and body. Raise this sick child from his bed of suffering, and to restore him safe and sound to Your holy Church and to his parents; so that all the days of his prolonged life he may increase in grace and wisdom before You and men, serve You in justice and holiness, and give due thanks to Your mercy and compassion. Through Christ our Lord. Amen."
Our other intention for this month of September is for all children heading back to school or college. Whether our children are just starting in play school, entering national school or leaving home to go to college, our hearts and hopes go with them. We invite you to pray for children as they go out to face the world. We pray for the safety of our children, we pray that Our Lady will bless and protect them and keep them close to her most loving Son, Jesus Christ.
Prayer for all those going back to school of college:
Dear God bless all children this day. Instruct them; give them inquiring minds and discerning hearts. Strenghthen them; give them courage to persevere in all they undertake. Delight them; give them the gift of joy and wonder in all things. Befriend them; give them laughter and love to share with all. Guard them; give them protection and safety as they move out of our embrace. Love them; give them sure and certain knowledge of your unfailing love.
Father capture the hearts and minds of our children. We offer them to You with open hands. Through the example of Jesus, teach them to surrender their lives fully to You. Bless them with the knowledge that they are Your beloved ones and that they truly belong to a commmunity of love and mercy. Break open their hearts so that the seed of the Word and the power of the Eucharist can be planted in fertile ground, take root and transform their lives. Give our children to the world with the power of the Holy Spirit to witness to the love of Jesus and serve Him in each person they meet. Amen.

Today we celebrate the birth of our Spiritual Mother, Our Blessed Lady. Mary is a woman who was formed in pure love. She is Mother of the Church and Mother of Jesus Christ our Saviour. Let us remember her with hearts of thanksgiving. Maybe pop into a church and light a candle or say a quiet hail Mary. Let us mark the day with some small gesture as a sign of love for Mary and her Son Jesus Christ.
To mark our second anniversary we launched our promotion video for Pray for Children. A young college student kindly offered to do this video for us. He viewed the blog and its content and then set to work on a video for us. Many thanks to Robin for all the hours he put into making the video and may God bless him and guide him in his studies.
