Monthly Holy Hour

This morning we had our monthly holy hour in St. Mary's Drogheda.  Fr. Joe Campbell and Fr. Peter from Thailand said the mass.  Fr. Joe prayed for young people sitting exams at this time of year and also for those finishing college and setting out in life.  The mass was as beautiful as ever and a good number attended it.  After mass the rosary was recited and there was Eucharistic Adoration and the hour ended with Benediction.  The singing was better than usual as a few new people who sing joined us.

After the holy hour 5 of the ladies were outside the church.  Fr. Peter who is visiting St. Mary's to learn english and study came out and the ladies spoke to him.  They told him that they had problems singing the latin response "Omene delectamentum in se habentem." Fr. Peter began to sing it to them on the steps of St. Mary's and all the traffic was passing by.  What a sight in this day and age a priest all the way from Thailand teaching a latin response to 5 mother hens on the steps of St. Mary's Drogheda and whats more the ladies made a good attempt at learning it.  Is this the way forward for singing in church?

Please continue with all your wonderful prayers as they are so needed.  For the month of July and August there will no holy hour but mass will still be offered for children and young people as our prayer should never cease.  We will resume with the holy hour in September after the summer break.  As the Feast of St. Monica falls on a monday this year we have decided to celebrate our second anniversary on the first Saturday in September when our Holy Hour resumes.  Thats a date for your diary Saturday 1st.

This week the young people will begin their Junior Cert and leaving Cert examinations so let us all please remember them in our prayers.
