Today at the Dominican Novena in Drogheda, Fr. Maurice spoke on the subject of trust. He began by telling the story of the three children of Fatima. An Angel appeared to them in 1916. In 1917 Our Blessed Lady appeared to the three children. She told them they would have to make many sacrifices and to suffer much for the conversion of souls. Fr. Maurice spoke on how these little children trusted Our Blessed Lady and all that she said. As catholics we are called to the same childlike trust in God. To trust means to allow ourselves to be vulnerable before God and mankind. This can mean being accepted, or rejected. When we trust in God as catholics we can very often suffer for our faith. We leave ourselves open to ridicule from others who do not think or believe as we do. Trusting in God means that he is in control and we obey all that he asks of us just as the little children of Fatima obeyed our Blessed Lady. Today God's message to us is to trust in him alone.
A prayer for trust
Trust in Him when dark doubts assail you,
Trust in Him when your faith is small,
Trust in Him when simply to trust is the hardest thing of all.
Amen.
